Software-wie i would agree OptiCAL is the best of the bunch.
Hardware-wise this comes down to the three sensor Chroma4, versus the 8
sensor Spyder. While you have had one person report gray issues with the
Spyder, I would comment that I have seen many users change from the Chroma4
to the Spyder, and feel the result was an improvement, so don't base your
selections on a single anecdotal comment.
As for the Chroma4, or any other device, calibrating LCDs, I'd look long and
hard at that process before being sure I was satisfied with it! LCD
calibration is far from trivial...
