I had mentioned just the other day that the scanner based tools in
ProfilerPRO could be used for fast profiles for variable devices like color
lasers. They will profile your 1290 quite nicely as well, if you set it to
the matte paper setting to minimize ink overload, and use papers that can
handle the quantity of ink the 1290 puts out. The 2000p is always a
challenge, but the profile editing tools in DoctorPRO are excellent for
attempting to beat the strange metameric discrepencies in 2000p profiles back
into line.
Then later, if you come up with the $500US for a ColorMouse, you can use the
full set of features for even more accurate profile building.
