Hi everybody,

Lyson UK told me that they tested their inks (as probably everybody knows
they are dye based)in a few of the new printers from Epson, designed for the
new pigmented archival inks. I think that they tested the 7500 or 9500, I
am not sure anymore.

They told me, that their inks performed even better in de new (7500 or 9500)
printers from Epson.
So no problem and no need to use other drivers.
Only make sure, you will have custom ICC profiles made for the combination
of your printer/ink/paper either by yourself or someone else.

So, I'll think myself, this would be the same with the Pro 5500 (of which I
am the owner)

At the moment I am still in a struggle to find the best possible solution
for making profiles for this machine in combination with the original Epson
inks. (I am in progress and when finishes and hopefully found the solution
I will let everybody know)

I am considering to switch either to Lyson or the inks from MediaStreet.com
called Generations Enhanced. (Also pigmented inks and as I already heard on
this mailing list:

These

by a considerable margin: On the website from MediaStreet they claim at
least 75 year! Not so bad at all!

I emailed MediaStreet.com and they told me that those inks can be used in
the Pro 5500.
They even sell the inks in bottles which makes it a lot cheaper.

But my question to all of you:

Does anybody has positive experience in refilling the Pro 5000/5500
cartridges themselves? Or is this just an extremely non professional
activity? It could reduce the cost of ink immensely!

Greetings to all of you and I thank you all in supplying this site with so
much valuable information
