Well, I build Epson RGB driver profiles and CMYK RIP profiles for the same
printer, and the prints are identically excellent through both, except in
those areas where the Epson driver is a bit weak (dark color to black
transitions come to mind) and the CMYK profiles are superior... or for papers
or inks that do not match the Epson media settings well, and the ink limits
and other advanced features of the CMYK profiles show their advantage. This
is all assuming a competent RIP with good dithering and color capabilities.
With RIPs that use nonstandard methods color systems, it may be possible to
have trouble building or applying CMYK profiles. I suspect you have run into
that situation, and decided to tar and feather ProfilerPRO based on that
experience.
