Right, I'm wrong ... speed typing again.
The instrument itself does not play a role, the manner of measuring
the scanner target may play a role, just as the manner of measuring a
printer target may play a role. This is equally true of spot
spectrophotometers and autoscanning spectrophotometers. Wrong
backing, wrong measurements.
Overall for studios to wire into the ICC virtual color network, the
spectro has to climb onto the desktop in the trail of the homely
mouse, and the UI complexity has to come down in ICC profiling
software. This is what the Eye-One instrument and software does,
wizards and USB dual platform and all.
