Some people feel calibrating their displays to D65 gives a better match to
their proofs in a D50 viewing box. I've left it up to user preference in
our department. As it stands at the moment, two out of seven of our imaging
personel prefer D65, while the rest of us have stuck (read "gotten used
to") with D50. I know this isn't an answer to your question per se, but in
my opinion it is a user preference thing. I'm sure people on this list will
have loads of technical reasons why D65 is better, but I tend to go what
works for me in my enviornment. The theories are interesting but I just
need to do whatever it takes to get the work done.
