We have had a Xerox Phaser 7700GX for about three months and we are
generally pleased with it. In the time that we have had the printer we have
run about 12,000 prints through it... the motivation for the purchase was to
reduce the number of prints that we were running through our Epson 5500 and
to reduce our cost of consumables.
The quality of print is quite good and it is extremely fast. We use
ProfileMaker and a SpectroScan to generate the profiles and we have been
able to get it to match the Epson 5500 fairly closely. The stock profiles
that shipped with the printer were also quite good... for canned profiles
that is. All eight of our designers love the thing; especially the speed
combined with the ability to duplex.
The only issue we have had is that the PPD has a few (no color related)
flaws. Initially we were unable to generate separations from either
Illustrator or InDesign, but Xerox issued a revised PPD to address that
problem. The revised PPD however seems to want to turn black (K only) into a
four color process which makes black text look a bit out of focus. We're
working with Xerox to rectify that issue.
Hope that's helpful...

It is quite an impressive printer. Very good quality and very fast (single
