Have you compared the 3d gamut map of a color inkjet to a hex press... pretty

I have done a comparison with a true Hexachrome ink profile I created.
There is a reason why some people misappropriately call the process hi-fi.
The addition of Hex Orange and Green alone give the color volume an
extremely different shape compared to a 4/C process. Also Hexachrome inks
contain a lot more florescence making the colors appear much brighter and
snappier. Hexachrome Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and even Black are radically
different from Process CMYK inks.
So I think you would be hard pressed to simulate a 6/C process on a 4/C.
Note there are 4/C contract proofers that can use "hi-fi" sheets to achieve
a color gamut wider than Hexachrome but that's a different printing device
class all together.
