Yes of course. If they have the correct name extension they should work.
Actually it's funny you should mention that because I've been reading
a great big book on the subject....
It turns out the ColorSync under MacOS X does not worry about
type/creator codes OR extensions. If a profile is in the right place
and it has the telltale profile tag in it's header (internal to the
file) then ColorSync will pay attention to it - it's basically the
exact same method I used in ColorThink.
We have been adding .icc to most of the profiles we generate anyway.
It helps for x-platform work and identifying the little buggers when
they don't have an associated icon - now that I think of it there's
another good reason to put the extension on - at least it'll get an
icon from X.
