So including a macbeth chart in each image might seem like a good way to
get control of your scanning process. The problem is in order for the
chart to be a complete guide to scanning the chrome it needs to be
perfectly illuminated. Otherwise the color and density of the patches
will lead you in the wrong direction. From a photographers view point
that is nearly impossible and very impractical. Now the gray patches can
help you get a neutral balance, assuming it is lit by one light or
several that are color balanced.
