Greetings,
I've been reading this list with interest for some time and I finally have
a question to ask. Responses posted here indicate that there are some of
you out there who have experience using this software. Perhaps you have a
suggestion that can help?
We are a technical college prepress program with three Epson 900s, RGB
only, and two 3000s driven by the Epson 3 RIP in our lab. We have been
attempting to build output profiles using Kodak Colorflow. The creation of
profiles using the Profile Wizard in Colorflow is pretty straightforward
but the editing of the resulting profiles is somewhat obscure and
subjective. Applying the profile to the included image file and determining
adjustments needed based on screen readings of suspect colors from lab
monitors, even the calibrated ones, by intermediate students using Kodak's
instructions doesn't appear to be the way to go about this. Does anyone
know of some simpler or less subjective way to validate the profiles?
Obviously cost is a factor, Colorflow was donated to us and we are limited
to what we have. We are using Colortron IIs to do the measuring (yes, I
know about their limitations but I like I said, budget is a factor). Thanks
in advance for any suggestions.
