Hello,
does anyone of you have experience with Gretag's Profile Editor?
Yup
I found that when I make a correction in the proofing tables of my profile the
results are the opposite in the printed result. So when I want to edit a color
with more saturation I have to make an edit with less saturation.
This is probably a result of doing things the way most of us tried at
first rather than the way the software is setup to work....
If you are loading "device" color image files (like a CMYK destined
for a CMYK printer) then you will have the above problem when editing
the Lab->CMYK transform.
Save your file out of Photoshop as a Lab TIFF - perhaps best if it's
the RGB original but CMYK converted to Lab would work OK too. Then
open it in the editor and perform your edits. It should work more
like you are expecting.
The new version of the editor (4.0, not yet released) works in a
similar fashion but is much more explanatory in the way you lay out
multiple profiles, in the instructions on what file type to load and
in the editing capabilities.
I also wonder if it is possible to make a number of selective color
corrections without having to save the profile after each edit.
I don't think this is possible in your version.... not sure about the
new one either... I'll have to check on that...

Steve
