Hi everyone,

i have been converting images to an output profile in photoshop v5.5 for a little while now and it seems to give me more or less what I am expecting on the output end. I recently upgraded to photoshop v6 and performed the same task (or at least I think I am) and the results look completely different on my monitor. The v5.5 monitor results are much lighter and much more colour shifted than the v6 results, which are hardly lightened or shifted at all. I haven't actually output with the v6 results yet, but am hoping to do so this weekend (the output is a 35mm film recorder - Mirus Turbo II PC). I built the profile for this device using the Monaco EZcolour v1.5 profiling software.

Just curious if:

a: anyone else has encountered this difference between v5.5 and v6
b: if i am performing these steps correctly. In v5.5 used image/mode/profile to profile - and selected my source profile same as in the rgb colour preferences, absolute colorimetric, black point and apple colorsync as the engine. In v6 used image/mode/convert to profile - and the same profile destination as v5.5, the source profile is the same v5.5, absolute colorimetric, black point is not selectable, dither is off and apple colorsync as the engine.
c: if anyone knows of, or has a better suggestion for creating a good profile for the Mirus film recorder.

Any thoughts. I guess i will know in a couple of days what the actual output results are. Although based on what i am seeing on the monitor, the results are not going to be correct.

Best regards

William Oldacre
