We have work that will get printed on 2 presses in different areas.
We have 2 profiles, one for each press.
Is it possible to combine these 2 profiles together to create 1 profile
consisting of the common denominator in both gamut's of both presses.
Does anyone have any insight to this?
Well, if I were to go about doing this I think I would do the following:
- first, compare the two profiles to see if they are anywhere near
the same. Our 3D graphing tool ColorThink would allow you to do a
comparison of the two. They had better be in the same ballpark if you
want to average them.
- Then I would return to the original data sets that created the
profiles and average them. If you have multiple sets for each press,
perhaps you would average all of them together - sort of like one big
press run.
- Then I would take the averaged data and build a profile. You could
then do some comparisons with the new profile vs the old profiles to
see how different it turned out.
All this said, you may be better off making your separations based on
some standard and then matching that standard on each press.
