I visited a customer of mine and wanted to know how
they were using there CMYK setup in PS 5.5 and
everytime they went to File-> Color Settings-> CMYK
Setup, an error message came up saying that the ICC
profile was missing, click OK and nothing happens. We
tried trashing the PS preferences, but that did not
fix the problem. Anyone know the fix to this one?
Thanks.
What OS are they using?
What version Colorsync? Is the control panel on?
System Folder>Colorsync Profiles> (profiles missing)
System Folder>Preferences>Colorsync Profiles> (old location may
contain profiles - move profiles to System Folder>Colorsync Profiles>
and then place alias in preferences folder redirecting programs to
System Folder>Colorsync Profiles>.
[May cause some programs, like Coreldraw mac version to bomb, when
setting up color preferences] The only major app I know of that still
puts profiles in the preferences folder is Adobe Pagemaker.
Also, if they did a clean system install without reinstalling PS or
moving profiles from old system folder or simply copying PS from one
hard drive to another via drag and drop, then this could also cause
this anomaly.
Without knowing more, I can only keep guessing.
