RGB workspaces vs. LAB

Why use RGB workspaces at all, when we have LAB to start from? Let me
guess: more intuitive space, more operations available in PS, gamut closer
to real devices for more realistic results.

I wonder when a LAB starting point/archive/workspace is best?
