I have been following this thread, but no one has defined at what stage the
rendering intent (from within BEST - profile window) kicks in and exactly
how the Colormetric-relative (no paper white) Colormetric-absolute (paper
white) and also the Photo realistic works with the CMM in the Profiles and
the CMM within BEST.
Both Color metric Intends will be used for Proofing in BESTColor, the
difference between both intends is, that the used White Point for proofing
will be changed from the Reference Profile (with Paper White Simulation) to
the Paper Profile (without Paper White Simulation).
The CMM (Heidelberg) use all three Rendering Intends matching Lab to CMYK of
the Paper Profile.
Ulf, could you also explain when the CMM was changed within BEST, and how
this differs when 'one' builds profiles with profiling software that uses
the Heidelberg CMM, and for those packages that don't.
The CMM Version was changed with BC 4.2.1 and will be changed finally with
the next Version of BC. Sometimes You get trouble with the Paper White (Cyan
or Magenta Dots) if you use the relative Rendering Intend in BC and you use
older paper Profiles. This problem occurs on the Profiles and not on BC.
Logo and Heidelberg fixed this Problem with their new Versions of
Profilmaker (3.1.4) and Print Open (4.0). I have no information from other
Profiling Software Tools.

PO, the Paper White is to Blue.
Ulf, you mention 'BC 4.2.2', when is this going to be available, and what
other changes have been made within the BEST ?
You can download the Service Pack 2 from
http://www.bestcolor.de/download/update/bc422update.exe
With this download you get an file called What's new.
One final point, I can really see a need for a 'BEST users forum' - english
please, to be run by BEST, and to be moderated by yourself. I think it
should be run on your servers, but even an eGroups forum to start with.
What do you think ?
Good idea, but.....
Ulf
