Hello Joel,
Status T is a standard used for density. When you measure a color with
the CM2S it doesn't know what color you are measuring so it reports ALL
of the density values. Status T density has a Cyan density, a Magenta
density, a Yellow density and a Visual density. Visual density is also
sometimes called "Black" density.
CIEValues reports the C,M,Y,V densities in that order. Many densitometers
use an algorithm to discern the proper density color to report by looking
at the largest number (i.e. if you measure a 100 percent Magenta patch,
you'll get a larger value for the Magenta density than the other 3.
CS-Connect will perform this calculation for you, but if you know what
you measured, you can use the number that is meaningful to you.
More technical nitty gritty...
The photographic industry uses the C,M,and Y densities when determining
the gray balance of a neutral. The graphic-arts folks just stick to the
major density values when performing a linearization or proof check.
Your transmission densitometer can be calibrated two ways. You can remove
all film from the measurement head and "zero" on nothing, any subsequent
measurements will be "absolute". You can also "zero" a transmission
densitometer on clean film (base+fog) and any subsequent measurements
will be relative to the film base.
A ColorMouse is always reporting "absolute" density. You can subtract a
measurement of paper and calculate a "relative" density, but you'll have
to do it by hand. :(
I was looking for some easy to read info on "density" and I couldn't
really find much. Here's a link to a very high level overview of Color.
It explains density, vs colorimetric vs spectrophotometric measurements,
as well as a lot of other information. I hope you find it useful.

Thanks Chris,
Everything you wrote makes everything else fall into place. You are
god. Not Michael Jordan, but a god none-the-less. Well perhaps a
demi-god. Jordan really is in a class of his own.
