I use an Agfa Duo-Scan T-1200 with Agfa's Color Tune color management
program.
After I make a scanner profile with my Kodak IT 8 target and its Kodak
data file, using Color Tune, the profile appears in my color sync
folder, and in the appropriate menu under "color management" in
the scanner settings in Foto Look, the scanner driver.
HOWEVER, when I open the file in Photoshop 6 the file does NOT
have a profile attached (according to Photoshop), and, when I try to do a
profile conversion my scanner profile does not appear in the profile
options for profile conversions. (The profile IS in my color sync folder.)
I am wondering if the so-called scanner profile is really just a
collection of scanner settings. This might explain why the scanner
profile IS effecting my scans, but not appearing as a profile.
However this makes me nervous about the whole workflow of my color
management. If there IS a profile attached to the file, but not
recognized by Photoshop, what does this do to my color management; and
what is the best way to proceed from there?
It may be possible that Agfa Color Tune profiles are written in such a
way that Photoshop doesn't recognize them, even though Color Sync does.
(This would be really stupid!) Would there be a way to make the profile
accessible to Photoshop? (rename profile and profile first aid do nothing.)
I would appreciate any suggestions from someone who has figured this out
before.
