Fashion color management begins with dye stuffs and plastics recipes which
are spectral and proprietary in nature, incorporating factors such as gloss
and texture, and tie into fabric CAD systems, product specifications etc...
the major player in this market, from producers through designers to chain
stores, is ColorRIte, by DataColor, which is the parent company of
ColorVision, who is providing the end user products to go with the industrial
stuff. Simply using ICC profiles and CMM conversions would not offer the
tie-ins and control needed in this industry for the specific results they
require.
