JPEGs With Custom Profiles
JPEGs With Custom Profiles

I've noticed that when I save PhotoShop files as JPEG files, the files size
estimate in the JPEG Options dialog box (where you select the quality level)
is inaccurate when the JPEG is embedded with a custom printer profile.
The JPEG Options file size says the resulting file should be, for example,
350k. The file actually turns out to be 900K.
If a ColorMatch or Adobe RGB profile is embedded, then the calculated file
size matches the actual file size. No only that, the resulting JPEGs are
consistently smaller than when they are embedded with a custom profile.
Would one expect a custom printer profile to be bigger than the profiles
that come with PhotoShop?
And, assuming that's the case, why can't PhotoShop calculate the correct
files size when embedding a customer printer profile?
Thanks,
Doug
