John, this is what I exactly tried to reproduce on 16. of Nov.
I produced profiles using the default calibrator. As I ran into
the problem that profiles disappeared, I shure did select
different names for evry profiles I created. I only saw the
profiles I created before.
Dont believe we are silly, we are trying to find something
that seems to be very non reproducable. I still believe that
this ain t ColorSync specific.

I only tell the graphics card that it should use the system gamma.

it does use
a lookup table that is more precise than the standard macintosh lookup
table.
