I have gotten outstanding results using the Epson 5500 with the Praxisoft
Mach 1 RIP and Compass Profile Professional. I have a Packaging client in
Texas using 3 MACH 1 Rips driving an Epson 9500, 9000 and 5500 printing both
concept art and proofing to a Gravure press. The results were phenominal. I
was able to get the three Epsons to match exactly despite the dye vs
archival issue and got a spectacular spot on press proof. Ink limit and
Black generation controls worked flawlessly and I have encountered none of
the problems with Epson 5500 which have been mentioned in this forum. There
are no UCR/GCR issues with the 5500 it is a matter of finding the right
tools to properly characterize the print head output and send the proper
data to get the correct results. Epson and Praxisoft are great together it
is just that neither of them Know it yet. <g>
