It also seems to be the only list
where most people think about editing <snipping> the previous posts
Henrik Holmegaard:
Ah, but this list is lucky to have the better list master, John
Gnaegy -:).
Thanks Henrik. It's not just me, Henrik and others have helped by
posting tips aimed at keeping the signal to noise ratio high. Here
again are some useful things to remember about using the list.
1) Minimize quotations. Quote a line or two and respond to that. Do
that several times instead of quoting a huge block of a previous post.
Nobody reads those huge quotations anyway.
2) Minimize sig length. Sigs are fine, but question the usefulness of a
phone number, address, or similar non-electronic contact info. If
somebody wants to reach you, they'll probably send email right? A web
site address is perfect.
3) The list server remembers your email address, but not you. That
means if you're subscribed as email@hidden, you can't post from your
email@hidden account. Either read and post from the same account, or
subscribe both addresses and receive double the messages.
4) lists.apple.com/mailman/listinfo/colorsync-users
Use that page to subscribe and unsubscribe, read old posts, and set
delivery options. Try to commit that line to memory. Mailman is the
name of the list server software, in case you're wondering.
5) To read old posts, the username is "archives" and the password is
"archives". It's not your own username and password, it's the same one
for everybody.
