No, he was right.
If you create a new, white background, RGB document in PS 6.0.1 using:
1. Ekta as your RGB working space
2. Euroscale Coated V2 as your CMYK working space
3. Absolute Colorimetric as you rendering intent
4. Adobe (ACE) as your CMM
Drag your cursor over the white and you can see that your info dialogue
shows a c=0! m-1! y=4! k=0! separation for 255/255/255
Using Heidelberg CMM removes the 1% magenta but retains the 4% yellow.
Neither of the Apple CMMs have this problem.
Absolute colorimetric SHOULD have a color cast to white, to
compensate for the paper color.
It's perceptual and relative colorimetric that should NEVER have a
color cast in white or black.
