If the light source has a UV filter, there will be no light outside the
visible to be bounced back. And light that "reverse fluoresced" by moving
from the visible to the UV would just be ignored if it was in a band beyond
the machines spectrum.

I've had great luck with the SpectroCam, especially with ProfilerPRO, which
together do an excellent job dealing with whitened papers, and make supurb
RGB profiles, at a low price.
