I'm clear on 35 mm, but am wondering what "Advanced
Photo System"
means.
Advanced Photo System is a new film format introduced
a few years ago. Compared to 35mm, the big differences
are it is 24mm wide stock, and the system is set up so
the film is never cut, and always stored in the
original cassette. The film inside will almost always
be color negative.
You beat me to it Randy, but you are far too kind to APS.
Film is color negative, speed usually high, print quality above 3.5x5
diminishes exponentially, and costs near the same as regular film and
development. You also get a cute little thumbnail contact sheet.
No rebate in the closed cannister system, thus the consumer can never
question the quality of development. What you get is what you get.
It's only good point is it is a "photography for dummies system"
which removes some common problems for people who know little or
nothing about photography, film loading, handling, etc....but
primarily the manufacturer is getting more and the consumer, while
having to think less, is getting less. Genius.
