I spoke with a teck support person from Best who said that Designer
Edition only supported canned output profiles for the various machines
it worked with. Custom input profiles were fine, but custom output

Like CDTobie I have also heard that the BestColor Designer Edition only
supports canned profiles. That's a serious bummer as many design shops would
prefer to have a Mac based solution to avoid NT/Win2k technical support
issues.
not true!!!
BESTColor folks may be treating it as unprofilable for tech support
reasons but recently we have had success in profiling this RIP for
output purposes. We are in the process of contacting our existing
BESTColor DE clients with the updated information and methods.
It is a little fiddly but not quite as bad as PressReady. Close though.
I am in the process of writing it up as a tech note for our site. If
people are interested I'll let the list know when it is up.
Oh yeah - avoid the Stylus RIP. It is such a pain......
