The magical tip has arrived and as usual, it sounds so simple once you
know the answer...
Photoshop let the QMS printer perform the screening, while Quark 3.31 did
the screening internally. This caused the Quark prints to be darker and
thus the difference between the printouts.
In Quark 4, you can choose in the print dialog between 'printer halftone'
and 'conventional halftone'. 'Conventional halftone' gives the dark
result again, while 'printer halftone' matches the Photoshop output.
I was now even able to get decent colormanaged output from RGB documents,
both with Quark 4's internal colormanagement and with Compasspro lite.
So, here's the final big question: is it possible to tell Quark 3.31 to
use the printer's screening, instead of its internal screening?
