I work in ColorMatch RGB colorspace. I recently upgraded to PS6 from PS5.5
(btw, the RGB softproofing feature is fantastic!). When I work in a file in
PS6 and save it with the built in ColorMatch RGB profile embedded and then
reopen it in PS5.5 (built in ColorMatch RGB is my RGB working space in
PS5.5) I get a profile mismatch dialogue. Why? Is it that, while having
the identical properties, the built in ColorMatch profiles in PS6 and PS5.5
are different files so that Photoshop thinks they're different colorspaces?
Or did Adobe (subtlely) change the definition of the colorspaces between the
two versions?
I figured out a work around. In PS6, I saved the built in ColorMatch RGB
profile as a custom profile (renaming it PS6 ColorMatch RGB). In PS5, I
loaded the custom PS6 ColorMatch RGB profile as my RGB working space, and no
profile mismatch dialogue appears.
What if I were to stay with the two built in ColorMatch RGB colorspaces and,
when PS5.5 asks if I want to convert colorspaces upon opening, I mistakenly
clicked "yes"? Would it transform the colors, or, because the two spaces
have identical properties (or do they?), but are named differently, would it
leave the colors the same?
One more simple question. When I try to rename a profile in the finder,
Photoshop does not recognize my new name. I guess Photoshop is recognizing
a name that's somewhere inside the profile, not the finder name. Is there a
simple way to change the profile name that Photoshop recognizes? Thanks.
