If you have OS 9, check your CD for the ColorSync Extras folder where you can find the ProveIt software offered by Colorblind. I've just gotten acquainted with it and it is quite thorough with in depth explanations about the whole process. I don't yet own a colorimeter but this package has given me the confidence that maybe one is not absolutely necessary. (At least you can give it a try before auctioning off that auto.)
