I just saw a demo of Cameleo 3.62, the LINUX-based RIP and printing solution
from Caldera Graphics and honestly was totally blown away. They had it
driving an Epson 5000 beautifully, and their prices are very good. There's
talk they may bring OS-level color management to IRIX as well. These cats
are truly on top of it, know their color management, and have designed a
great UI and intelligent piece of software. Keep an eye out for them!
