Can someone please explain the differences?
Morgan,
ColorBlind Edit allows one to edit an icc input and output profile seperately
or together, among other features. The difference between the specific choices
within the "Save Profile" dialog are as thus:
Output Edits: (Mac OS Only) are profile edits made with the tools found under
the output menu in Dangerous Mode (versions under 3.0) and Advanced Mode
versions 3.0 and above (Mac OS). The edit features are White/Black,
Brightness/Contrast, Tone, Tone in Gray, Global Color, Selective Color,
(output menu only, Advanced Mode Only: Gradation, Gray Balance, and White
Point)
Other Edits: are edits made with any of the editing tools under the editing
menu including those in Basic, Standard, and Advanced (Dangerous) Modes.
The difference is whether your using basic, standard, or advanced mode and
what edits you have made. Personally, I advocate using Advanced or Dangerous
Modes and choosing Other Edits as edits to include when saving the profile
that way you get all of the changes made with your respected editing tools.
Respectively, you can do the same functions without output menu only options
to an icc input profile.
Moreover, you can save your edits as an ICC Edit profile; a device-independent
"abstract" profile using other edits you've performed on the current image.
When you choose ICC Edit, Other Edits will be selected automatically and the
other boxes will be de-activated. The profile can be used in ColorBlind Edit
as a simple way to apply one or several edits simultanously.
