Yet another quicksand pit.. and I had just escaped from the one where
ColorSync silently makes copies of your current monitor profiles, complete
with aliases, in the Display Profiles subfolder, so that deleting a monitor
profile does not eliminate it being used, at least not until you switch to
another profile, overwriting the phantom profile; and a search for a monitor
profile you have already deleted can find it still in the list (by internal
name) but no longer on your harddrive (by external name)... lots of potential
workflow and programming issues there!
