Hello list
I have two questions and I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
The first is how the icc profile is used in grayscale images. I see that
when switching profile I get a tonality change of the grayscale but how
does that work since my usual work method is using the cmyk preview to get
a softproof. Is the "preview" always on when you work with grayscale and
how does that work when that is an cmyk profile and created on a cmyk print
and not a grayscale. The setup we are using is PS 5.5 and the grayscale
behavior is Black Ink and preview is of course ticked.
I am aware that this question is a rather basic but in my attempt to learn
colormanagment I must have focused a bit to much on the "color" issue and
not enough on the "managment" side.:-)
Second question is regarding camera profiles. Is there a working solution
for reportage/press shooting that can be used for the Canon DCS 520 and the
Nikon D1 that are practical There are several photographers on this list
and you will understand what I mean when I say practical for a press
photographer that might be shooting 6 assignments in one day and shoot the
equivalent of 15 rolls in totally different light circumstances. If anyone
has any good advice for me and useful experiences I would be very happy to
hear from you.
What I would like is some form of work floow like shoot one pic of a target
in the light circumstance and when importing the camera should automaticly
look for the reference frame and then use that profile too run the images
trough and of course this should be highly automatic and preferably be done
in the background, I know this is possible with some profiling software and
with a loot of input from the user but what I am looking for is something
that can be done on the fly.
