Also, if that's the way it works, then checking the "Use in TIFF embedded

My $.02 how it SHOULD work with a Reference profile indicated AND the "Use

in TIFF embedded profiles" option set:

The BestColor RIP is a great RIP for nailing your process control. I have
been able to make awsome color output on high quality papers using the RIPs
per channel ink limit, linearization, and TAC. What BestColor and many other
RIPs lack are the complexity of dealing with all the different situations
files are sent. I can come up with at least half a dozen situations
involving Postscript, EPS, and PDF files with embedded objects.
The closest RIP that has a great understanding of these processing issues
is the Mach 1 RIP from Praxisoft. Praxisoft made a smart decision to partner
with a RIP manufactuer and put their Autoflow product on top. Unfortunately,
the RIP manufactuer of the shipping product is no longer involved in the
product. Praxisoft has since switched to another RIP manufactuer. I haven't
tested the new RIP yet.
In any event, I rely heavily upon workflow products like Autoflow and
Gretag's new iQue product to handle the *management* of color processing.
Using one of these tools you can spit out postscript doc to a BestColor hot
folders. Incidentally, the iQue 140 also works as print spooler so if a RIP
doesn't support "hot folder" input you can send the file to desktop printer
unlike Autoflow's current version.
