I need to match my Matchprint proof by printing on my HP 5000.
The blueish white of the photobase compared to the yellowish color of
the matchprint seems to be causing a problem.
Absolute Colorimetric rendering tries to make the HP print a yellow tone
in the background but it doesn't match.
Perceptual robs the image of yellow.
How do you deal with this?
Typically you adjust the white point of the Matchprint profile. It is
not uncommon - unfortunately - for the white point of the simulation
profile to be off.
GretagMacbeth's Profile Editor will allow this kind of adjustment.
I'm not sure of the other tools that will do this job.
You might also try using different CMM's. Sometimes they will render
the white a little differently.
Also - you should compare to relative colorimetric rather than
perceptual. Perceptual will do gamut mapping that is inappropriate
for proofing.
Another thing you can do - sometimes this is the best route - is get
paper for the 5000 that more closely matches the paper white of the
Matchprint and then use relative colorimetric. White point simulation
can be done fairly accurately but if you can avoid it, all the better.
