Do you drink it or apply it ???

I have two scanners, flatbed and film, the film scanner came with three
canned profiles, one for pos. one for neg. and one generic.
The flatbed running Silverfast I shall calibrate with an IT8.

In Control Panels > ColorSync > Profiles for Standard Devices > (Input):
I have selected Adobe 1998.
Is this correct or should I make three separate workflows with

Neg. profile
Pos. profile
Reflective (IT8) profile, selected as the input devices ?

Thanks in advance,

Sean.
