I am setting up a setup and I am having a hard time figuring out how
to get ColorSync to work.
I have a G4, an Epson Perfection 1240U scanner, and two printers: HP
DesignJet 3800CP - Large Format Printer, HP DesingJet ColorPro GA -
wide format printer.
Lighting and wall color are in the works, but right now I just need
to figure out how to get the two printers to print the same document
using the same colors.
The 3800CP uses the Adobe PS 8.7.x driver, and the GA uses the Adobe
PressReady driver. I have all of the colorsync profiles that ship,
but I can't seem to get everything to work right.
Your lighting only affects your perception of what is printed, it
does not affect how that printing is done.
ColorSync is just an Apple API for ICC profiles, it does not affect
how printing is done.
What does affect printing is how you set applications and drivers
up, and whether you have good custom ICC profiles for the actual
state of each printer (paper, ink, resolution).
Giving you a step by step as e-mail is on the long side, but if you
ask specific questions, many of us can help you with answers.
Thanks,
Specific question 1: does anyone use Adobe PressReady and have
trouble with ICC profiles? If I understand PressReady, it is suppose
to take care of ALL colorsync stuff. I guess that would be nice, but
it doesn't seem to be working.
More specific questions later.
