Softproofing doesn't work with RGB objects, presumably because
QXP4.11 and QCMS2.1 still can't swith the intent in the ICC printer
profile I'm proofing for.
IOW it's still based on the old pre-ColorSync 2.6 calls that didn't
support proofing.
So the only way to do it is the same as in Photoshop 5.
a. Separate into CMYK and tag
b. Place
c. Enable color management
Because the object is hard converted into CMYK, the return back
transform to Lab is enabled.
The rub is that the return transform shows a very pretty picture
which makes me suspect the QCMS is hooking up the AtoB0 inverse
perceptual table, in effect gamut mapping to the monitor.
This isn't quite the approach for scan once output many, late binding
workflows -:).
Anybody have another take on this ... ?
