Hia Claudio
at the risk of bringing out the hordes I'll say I don't think so
- why because, here in the UK we prefer to profile the Cromalin
or Matchprint, setting up the profiles for the press situation in
mind [means a set of four + newsprint I guess].
Then we use the profile to guide us in making the separations and
make a digital Contract proof [or even a real Cromalin or
Matchprint] to hand to the experts in the print room so that they
can use their incredible expertise to match it on press - by
adjustments to the press to account for all those lovely
variables like barometric pressure, humidity, ink viscosity
temperature etc.
I tend to agree with Dan, the Arch Anti-Calibrationist that a
profile of the press itself is pretty much useless as it is
incredibly variable. "like profiling the wind" I think he said.
