turns out I had a "silver" backgound selected in apple menu>control
panels>appearance>desktop>patterns. This due to the screen background
defalut choice on the g4 laptop running the screen.

Selecting "grey" has provided a neutral backgound, albeit bright.


Uh...we knew that. Just checking to see if you could tell the difference between silver and titanium. Little test there. Know what I mean? Know what I mean?
