Hello All-
We have been trying to take control of color management and I am looking
for advice on our workflow. I think we have things set up correctly, but I
still have some inconsistencies and some questions.
We are a digital photographic lab scanning primarily color negative film
on either an Imacon or Scanview 11000 drum scanner. 95% of our output is
printed to RGB printers (Kodak LED, Fujix, Light Jet).
We have had our Fujix and LED profiled- we do not do this ourselves,
instead we send off our printed targets to our "profiler" and he sends us
back a new printer profile. I know it would be better to do this
ourselves, however, it seems rather cost prohibitive at the moment.
I am looking for solutions if I could get some suggestions.
Recently we bought a ColorVision Spyder and use Optical to calibrate and
balance our 5 workstation monitors. We are all set up to use Adobe 98 as
our working space and before sending images to the printer we profile to
profile (from Adobe 98 to LED, Fujix, Light Jet profile).
Since we have used the Spyder, we now have 5 balanced monitors and none
match the printer.
As I understand it, we are to adjust the printer profile to match more
closely to our workstations. Is this correct?
Does anyone have a suggestion on software for adjusting printer profiles?
Would money be better spent on a profiling package like ColorBlind or
ColorVision Profiler Pro to do it ourselves?
Is any one patch reader better, dollar for dollar, than another?
I apologize for the length-
Thanks for the attention!
