You are currently building device profiles; what they are referring to is
software to build named color callouts, which are pulled from the PostScript
path and converted to predefined color values, instead of getting
approximated through the device profile. You might well be able to get
further improvements to your spot colors with workflow changes, even using
device profiles to determine their color, but there is little doubt that
named color callouts would make them even more accurate... for a price.
