This was a CMYK file printed raw, without any space changes, from
Photoshop. I used the printout from Photoshop to make a profile for the
printer, subsequently used that profile in Indesign and the results were
perfect. So I don't think the PS print is the odd one.
What I was expecting is no conversions at all in both PS and Quark - i.e.
just send the raw CMYK data straight to the QMS printer (via Apple's 8.6
postscript driver at default settings). So BPC would not be an issue. The
differences were not minor: the Quark printout was a *lot* darker.
The purpose of these tests is get both Quark and PS into an identical
state with straight CMYK, without using any colormanagement. Once that's
done Compasspro will be added to the mix for the actual workflow.
But how can I get them to print the same?
