Hi All,
I'm having problems getting a good custom profile for my Epson 7500.
I'm using a G4 mac, OS 9.1, PhotoCal/monitor spyder, Profiler Pro 2.1,
Photoshop 5.5. The printer is run by a networked PC running Win 2000 server
using Colorbyte's Imageproof RIP.
The first attempts were using my colormouse with profiler pro's default
settings. These profiles appeared to be clipping colors so I suspected that
the colormouse was not up to the task of profiling the Epson pigmented inks
or that there was an accuracy problem reading swatches by hand.
Next I had some friends read my targets for me with their DTP41's. These
profiles (both RGB and CMYK) had issues with the yellow channel. The
ImageProof RIP allows you to use RGB profiles and their canned profiles
print extremely well. The profiles produced this round introduced too dard
and saturated yellows where there should be lighter and more muted yellows.
All other color areas appear normal.
I noticed that there seemd to be a linearization issue with the yellows on
the output targets. Additionally, dot gain targets showed little change in
the wedge all the way down to 40%. I'm pretty certain that I had CM turned
off in the RIP and no profiles embedded from Photohop.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tim
