The list works when a quote is limited to the question or assertion which the post replies to. The list does not work when copy already circulated to everyone is included in the quote. There is then no quick and easy way to tell what point the post addresses.

Other lists display posts which quote the entire list content. This way a list becomes hard to navigate for information and hence also unusable. The problem with web lists is that every poster is her own editor. Web lists are based on the concept of mutual help, and the best way to ask for help and to offer help to others is to avoid redundancy in posts.
