Is the Sinar software the only thing that will open the camera files?

Actually, the Sinar software saves its native files as Leaf HDR format,
16-bit (14?). These were described to me as "the unmodified capture files" -
with the idea that the user could have Captureshop open one file & export
several times with, say, different tonal curve corrections applied, if
wanted, yet still have access to the "full capture". A nice idea.
The HDR/Captureshop files are open-able in Photoshop, but they are not raw
data. They *are* "dark", with data clustered in the bottom end of a
histogram, like some 14-bit files, but have obviously been gray-balanced.
Worse, though is the fact that these "raw" files show something like the
tonal curve corrections (supposedly only for use upon *export* from
Captureshop) chosen when the initial capture was made. (i.e., identical
capture, shot twice with different "export"/post processing choices - the
two Captureshop files should be identical, but are not).
So much for trying to profile using the HDR files.

John
