If you've edited your white point to L:100, a:0 and b:0, you won't get the
paper simulation in PS 6. Try lower value for L.
It's odd that someone might reason like that, but you're right that
it's not unlikely they might.
a. to edit the paper white in order to remove blue, edit the b*
channel only, and only of the proofer profile,
b. to edit the paper white in order to mend the paper white
simulation, edit the a* and b* channels, and only of the proofer
profile (depending on the interpolation results with any two
profiles, a better simulation may be achieved by editing the proofer
profile),
c. but the L* channel is always best left alone.
