I've just been editing some profiles with ColorBlind Edit (v3.5.x)
Found the following:
(profiles made with PrintOpen 4.0 from extended dataset, "large profile
size")
- More than once, editing (as output) changed the tables from 33 grid points
to 32 grid points. No wp nor gray balance editing performed, just selective
color and tone.
- Added wp editing, and it came back to 33 grid points.
- Why did I add wp editing? Because it had, without any wp editing, screwed
up the relative colorimetric wp. That should be zero, but somewhat it began
to paint a paper color in blank areas in relative colorimetric.
- In all edits I've tried to to, as subtle as possible (ie just lighten a
little the black point plus slight selective color) to different profiles,
it always blows off the highlights. The print previously had highlight
detail, now it blows. Always.
- The "paper white in relcol" seems to be a bug in Heidelberg's CMM... With
ICCLabCalc, I can see the Apple CMM gives "under 1.0" values for CMYK when
converting Lab 100,0,0 to a profile. The Heidelberg CMM, on these edited
profiles (not on the original ones) gives values as high as 3.
Any ideas someone? I believe more of the things abovementioned are quite
scary...
